Trump's order closing Voice of America, Biberaj: Damage that no enemy has done to the US

The former director of the Voice of America in Albanian, Elez Biberaj, has reacted to President Trump's decision, which through an executive order decided to dissolve seven federal agencies that oversee VOA and other government media with a global reach.
Through a post on social media, Biberaj writes that this decision will cause such great damage to the image of the United States, which no opponent has done to date.
“ Voice of America, a beacon of hope and truth for hundreds of millions around the globe, closed today in the name of reducing federal bureaucracy. For more than eight decades, VoA has been a vital force in promoting America’s democratic ideals, faithfully presenting U.S. policy, advancing the national interest, and serving as a trusted source of credible news for millions in information-deprived regions.
The decision to dismantle one of America’s greatest national assets will cause profound damage to the U.S. image, its global interests, and the promotion of democratic values – damage that no adversary could ever achieve. Today marks a deeply sad chapter in the history of America’s engagement with the world ,” Biberaj writes.
