QSUNT Emergency/ Broken equipment and long lines, alarming situation

3.5 million calls handled and over 800 thousand missions carried out by the National Emergency Service... This is what Prime Minister Edi Rama declared a few days ago in a meeting with doctors and nurses of this service. Trying to make a distinction between the National Emergency before and after the socialist government.
Has the Prime Minister ever entered the Emergency Room of the QSUT, on a normal working day, and without announcing that he was going? We highly doubt this... So in order to better inform the Prime Minister, we conducted a few days of observation, trying to bring at least a few fragments of what happens within those walls.
As soon as we approach, apart from a large number of people, inside and outside the emergency room, the first thing we manage to document is this gentleman, who has a nurse and a doctor on his head, who are visiting him on a wheeled bed taken out of the ambulance right in the middle of the corridor. Because most likely, there are no free places to accommodate him in a room.
Meanwhile, in another corridor, two patients are positioned, one of whom is receiving an IV drip, while an improvised catheter with a water bottle is placed on him, while the other two are sitting waiting to receive assistance from the staff.
In the same corridor, another elderly man in a wheelchair, accompanied by a relative, also waits for the doctor. However, we are not there only to verify the presence of patients who have filled the corridor, but also to understand how the procedures for registration and subsequent care for them are carried out. Which should have been normal, just like any emergency around the world.
For this reason, we decided to assist a sick person and together with him we started looking for the doctor in the corridor in the hope that among all those people we would distinguish who was the right one for us. The nurse orients us, but while we wait to see the doctor, she hands us over to another colleague.
A kind of relay within the emergency corridors, while this time we did not see the doctor either. The second nurse takes us into an environment where we later learned that an ECG of the heart is performed. Next to us, there is a considerable number of people waiting in line. An examination room in which everyone stays together, patients and relatives, without the minimum of privacy. And the worst thing is that the work tools are also missing…
Ikja e infermieres ka bërë që të gjithë të qëndrojnë me sy nga dera duke pritur rikthimin e saj. Kohë e mjaftueshme edhe për tu njohur me njëri tjetrin. Pasi kemi pritur rreth 15 minuta, më në fund pajisja erdhi, dhe infermierja iu fut menjëherë punës në prani të të gjithë pacientëve që janë aty në pritje… Ekzaminimi u bë vetëm për një paciente, dhe spina e EKG u hoq për tu marrë sërish nga infermierja, ndërkohë që në rradhë ishin edhe 5 pacientë të tjerë në pritje të këtij shërbimi. Sepse EKG-ja ka prioritete.
Pavarësisht këmbënguljes tonë, infermierja nuk na kushton aspak vëmendje dhe largohet bashkë me pajisjen e EKG duke na lënë në pritje edhe për 15 minuta të tjera…. Sepse më në fund arritëm të kuptojmë që në Urgjencën e QSUT, nuk mjafton vetëm mungesa e EKG që shëtit sa andej e këtej, por u dashka të kesh pas vetes një infermiere të dedikuar, sepse përndryshe nuk të merr askush përsipër.
Gjithsesi meqë e kemi detyrim të gjejmë një infermiere, dalim sërisht nëpër kooridore për ta kërkuar…Por në vend të saj, përballemi sërish me pacientët që pamë të shtrirë në kooridore, të cilët marrin shërbim në korridoret e spitalit. Një punonjës i urgjencës na pohon se në këtë repart, nuk ka EKG dhe se në funksion është vetëm 1 e tillë. Diskutimin e prishjes së aparaturave për të favorizuar klinikat private e kemi dëgjuar me dhjetra here, por kur e thotë dikush nga personeli i QSUT, atëherë gjërat bëhen më të besueshme.
Por ccfarë mbetet është fakti se urgjenca me e madhe në vend e cila pret me qindra pacientë në ditë, prej 3 muajsh ka në funksion vetëm 1 EKG, ndërkohë që edhe pjesa tjetër e pajisjeve nuk punon. A është gjithë kjo që pamë panorama e vërtetë e asaj ccfarë ndodh në urgjencën e QSUT? Për fat të keq jo, sepse ajo që do ju tregojmë i kalon kufijtë e ccdo imagjinate… dhe ka për protagonist stafin e këtij sektori, aq të vlerësuar nga kryeministri.
Është mbrëmja e 30 Janarit të këtij viti. Në hyrjen e urgjencës paraqiten dy të moshuar. Burri duket se ka probleme serioze shëndetësore, dhe gruaja e merakosur e cila e ndihmon për të ecur me vështirësi. Pasi qëndrojnë për disa minuta përballë recepsionit pa ia hedhur sytë askush, dy të moshuarit, marrin guximin t’i afrohen një grupi mjekësh dhe infermierësh. Por këta të fundit vijojnë bisedën të pashqetësuar, edhe pse janë vetëm gjysem metri distancë.
