Albanian man killed in London subway station, two young men found guilty

Two young men have been found guilty of the murder of 33-year-old Albanian man, Ervin Baraku , in a shocking incident that occurred at the Seven Sisters underground station in July last year.

Kevin Nguyen , 21, of Westerfield Road, Tottenham, was found guilty of murder at the High Court in London today. Meanwhile, his accomplice, Milumo Pedrinho , also 21 and of Stonebridge Road, pleaded guilty to the same charge on 24 April 2024.

Both will appear in court again on Monday, June 16, where a date for their sentencing will be set.

According to British Transport Police investigations, the incident took place on July 23, 2024, shortly before 9:00 a.m. According to security camera footage and testimony heard in court, Nguyen had a confrontation with the victim on the street, after which Baraku was chased towards the station by Pedrinho, who was carrying a large knife, and Nguyen who was following him.

Baraku slipped and fell down the stairs inside the station, where he was then stabbed in the chest by Pedrinho. The two assailants quickly fled the scene, while the victim was left lying in critical condition.

Despite the rapid intervention of paramedics and his transfer to the hospital, Ervin Baraku died a week later, on July 30, as a result of his injuries.

Nguyen was arrested just one day after the incident, on July 24, while Pedrinho was detained three days later, on July 27.

Detective Superintendent Sam Blackburn said: “This was a completely senseless and tragic attack which resulted in the loss of a human life. There is no place for violence on the rail network. I am pleased that both perpetrators will face the consequences of this brutal crime. While no sentence can replace the loss of a loved one, I hope that justice will bring some peace to Erwin’s family.”
