The Transparency Board makes the decision, the price of oil and gasoline drops significantly

The Transparency Board has set new wholesale and retail prices for oil and gasoline, as part of the measures taken after the declaration of a special situation in the hydrocarbons market.
At the meeting held on October 8, 2026, the Board decided that the retail price for diesel fuel should not exceed 217 lek per liter, while the wholesale price should not exceed 205 lek per liter.
For gasoline, the maximum retail price is set at 193 lek per liter, while the wholesale price is set at 181 lek per liter.

The Transparency Board and Temporary Limitation of Wholesale/Retail Prices of Oil and Gas By-Products, in support of the Decision of the Council of Ministers No. 711, dated 16.09.2026 “On the Declaration of the Special Situation in the Hydrocarbon Market”, in implementation of Article 21/3 and Article 21/5 of Law 8450, dated 24.2.1999 “On the Processing, Transportation and Trading of Oil, Gas and Their By-Products”, as amended, as well as of Normative Act No. 1, dated 3.4.2026 “On an Amendment to Law No. 61/2012, “On Excise Duties in the Republic of Albania,” as amended, held its second meeting.
Thus, the Transparency Board on October 8, 2026, decided:
The retail price of the gasoil by-product of the SSH EN 590 standard shall be no more than 217 lek/liter, while the wholesale price shall be no more than 205 lek/liter.
The retail price of the SSH EN standard gasoline by-product should be no more than 193 lek/liter, while the wholesale price should be no more than 181 lek/liter.
The prices set by the Board will come into effect today, the 8th, at 12:00 and will be valid until the next board meeting where the changes in sales prices will be reflected.
We draw the attention of every operator of wholesale and retail sales of petroleum by-products to the obligation to implement this decision.
In case of violations found by various operators, the suspension of activity will be decided.
The Ministry of Economy and Innovation, together with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, are committed to protecting the interests of Albanian consumers and preserving the principles of fair competition in the market.
