"Territorialja"/ Two mayors' appeal to MPs: Do not vote for this depopulation reform!

The protest against the Administrative-Territorial Reform continues in front of Parliament, while the mayors of Memaliaj, Albert Malaj, and Fushë-Arrëz, Hil Curri, have called on MPs not to vote on the draft law that provides for changes in territorial division.

Mayor Memaliaj described the reform as an initiative that will bring further depopulation of the areas affected by the changes.

"This reform only encourages depopulation. The citizens of these 15 municipalities are protesting in their cities. I call today on all members of Parliament not to vote for this depopulation reform, this reform that is contrary to the Constitution and the EU Charter ," he declared.

According to him, territorial changes will not bring development to local communities.

"This does not bring development, but only depopulation. The DP map repopulates this country. I urge you not to vote for this reform," said the mayor of Memaliaj.

The mayor of Fushë-Arrëz also addressed the deputies with a warning regarding their vote in the Assembly.

"It will not be easy for those MPs who will vote for the depopulation and merger of 15 municipalities," he declared.
