OSCE delegation visits Moscow for first time since war in Ukraine began

A delegation from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe has traveled to Moscow, marking the first visit of this level to Russia since the start of the war in Ukraine in 2022.
The news was announced by the current OSCE president, Ignacio Cassis, who said the visit aims to restart dialogue in a period of ongoing tensions between Russia and the West.
According to Cassis, he and OSCE Secretary General Feridun Hadi Sinirlioğlu met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in two separate meetings, on Thursday evening and Friday morning. Each meeting lasted about two hours.
The OSCE had an observer mission in eastern Ukraine, deployed in 2014 after the outbreak of conflict in the region. This mission was withdrawn in 2022, following the start of the full-scale Russian occupation of Ukraine.
