Cocaine trafficking group busted in Rome, Albanian leader and Italian partner

A drug trafficking network, based on a "relay" between high-speed cars, was discovered by the State Police in the 'Primavalle' neighborhood of Rome, Italy.

A 41-year-old Albanian man and a 24-year-old Romanian woman, his accomplice and partner, were arrested, seriously suspected of conspiracy to commit possession of narcotics with the intent to traffic and illegal possession of a concealed weapon with ammunition.

"The investigation, carried out by investigators from the 7th Anti-Drug Section of the Rome Flying Squad and officers from the 14th Primavalle District, began with the observation of a small car parked in the same spot on the road ," authorities announced.

A significant amount of cocaine, ammunition, currency, and other material items of value to prosecutors' investigation were also seized.

The operation is ongoing, while no details are provided about the quantities of drugs seized and the names of those detained.

It is believed that there are other people involved in the network.

Drug trafficking is done by passing it from one car to another, mainly to lose track and avoid detection.
