Greece, March the hottest month in twenty years, in Crete the temperature reached 32 °C today

Today's temperatures are the highest recorded in at least the last twenty years in most regions of Greece for the month of March. In Gazi, the thermometer has surpassed the record of March 31, 2009, which was 25 degrees, reaching 25.3 degrees. In Crete, the temperature in many areas exceeded 30, but even 32 degrees.
As Kostas Lagouvardos, director of research at the Athens Observatory, spoke to protothema.gr, these are temperatures that reach or even exceed the records of March. Moreover, since the last three days of the month are expected to have temperatures above normal for the season, the average temperature of the month will increase even more.
"From July onwards, months hotter than the normal average are recorded", with the exception of the areas in Northern Greece where the thermometer today did not exceed the average normal values for the season, in the rest of the areas, the heat was abnormal. Both today and tomorrow the conditions favor dust from Africa, so the atmosphere will remain scorching, while after a slight drop in temperature during the weekend, the data so far shows that at the beginning of next week we will have another warm intervention with new increase in temperature.
As for the highest temperatures, according to meteo, the thermometer reached the highest point in Alikianos Chania which showed 32.6 degrees, while in the center of Chania 32.5 degrees.
