This also happens/ Lights go out all over Sri Lanka, caused by a monkey

A monkey has entered a substation in Sri Lanka's electrical grid, causing a total power outage across the island. Authorities are reporting that the country has suffered a power blackout.

"A monkey came into contact with our grid transformer, causing an imbalance in the system," Energy Minister Kumara Jayakody told reporters.

The incident occurred in a village south of the capital Colombo, he said. Power was restored to several areas, with operations lasting about three hours.

The last major power outages on the island occurred in the summer of 2022. The economic crisis that hit the country caused gas stations to empty, forcing power plants to reduce electricity production.
