UN: War in Iran is harming global humanitarian aid

The war in Iran is putting increasing pressure on humanitarian operations in other regions of the world, a spokeswoman for the UN refugee agency said today.
According to UNHCR, the uncertain situation around the Strait of Hormuz has increased fuel and transport costs, also causing delays in supplies.
Carlotta Wolf stressed that any increase in transportation costs directly translates into less aid for refugees.
"Every extra dollar in transportation means one dollar less for refugees, or that we can help fewer people," she said.
According to her, transportation fees for humanitarian supplies from major Asian countries have increased by almost 18% as a result of the conflict.
Shipments from the UNHCR warehouse in Dubai to Sudan, embroiled in a civil war for years, now cost twice as much.
