A suspected drug trafficking network with a headquarters in Albania, a logistics base in Perugia, Italy, and a system for almost instantaneous delivery of cocaine to clients.
This is the scene reconstructed by the Public Prosecutor's Office in the trial taking place in the Perugia court against three Albanians aged 35, 38 and 43, accused of criminal conspiracy with the aim of trafficking and selling narcotics.
According to the prosecution's line of reasoning, the three were members of an organization dedicated to distributing cocaine through "an unspecified series of drug trafficking incidents that involved the sale of quantities of narcotics through an organization operating in Italy and Albania."
The alleged events date back to 2022. The investigation describes a well-structured mechanism. According to the investigation, an unidentified man was the liaison for the organization operating in Albania. Using a mobile phone with an Italian SIM card, he is suspected of "receiving requests for drug supplies from individual buyers", then "transmitting them", according to the prosecutor's documents, "via another unknown number or an undetectable method to the associate currently in Perugia, in order to immediately carry out the delivery".
The suspected logistical base for the activity was identified in Via Cutu, in the Ponte della Pietra area. There, according to the prosecution, one of the defendants allegedly "stored" the drugs and handed them over to the sellers, who then sent them to the buyers.
The figures disputed by the prosecution are significant. Over a period of 171 days, from January 24 to July 14, 2022, investigators reconstructed 816 suspected sales of narcotics in exchange for cash.
These incidents represent the core of the indictment now before the court, which is called upon to verify the roles, responsibilities and size of the alleged transnational drug trafficking organization.
The defendants are defended by lawyers Daniela Paccoi and Guido Rondoni.
