Escalation of the war in Iran/ Macron: We will send another frigate and additional air support to Cyprus

French President Emmanuel Macron has delivered a speech to the nation regarding the war in Iran and its consequences. France pledged to protect its citizens and bases in the Middle East.

Macron said that France will increase its defensive position in the Middle East and that it will support countries in the region targeted by Iran in retaliation for Israeli-American attacks.

France has deployed Rafale fighter jets over the United Arab Emirates to protect its naval and air bases. France also has hundreds of navy, air force and army personnel stationed in the UAE. Its Rafale jets are based at Al-Dhafra base near Abu Dhabi.

"These Rafales and their pilots have been mobilized to guarantee the security of our facilities," France's foreign minister said, in response to a question about French actions in the United Arab Emirates over the weekend to neutralize Iranian drones.
