Polls in the US, Harris increases the lead over Trump

Kamala Harris continues to gain momentum in the US presidential election, as national polls show her leading the race against Donald Trump.

Most recently, FiveThirtyEight, the leading polling analysis site, puts the Democratic candidate 2.1 points ahead of her Republican rival, writes The Guardian.

Harris leads Michigan by 2 points, Pennsylvania by 1.1 points and Wisconsin by 1.8 points.

While Trump leads in Arizona by less than half a point and in Georgia by half a point.

The US vice president, 59, has changed the election race since mid-July, when Joe Biden, 81, finally heeded calls from his party to abandon his bid for another term.
