Spain/ The network of the Sinaloa cartel is destroyed, about 2 tons of methamphetamine are seized

The Spanish police have confiscated 1.8 tons of methamphetamine, which one of Mexico's most feared cartels was trying to smuggle into Europe.

According to "Associated Press", five people were arrested from this operation, including the head of the operation.

Also, a woman from Romania and three Spaniards were put in handcuffs. The narcotic substance was discovered in the Alicante region, in the east of Spain.

This is the largest amount of this substance seized so far in Spain and the second most important in Europe, according to the Spanish police.

The Mexican citizen among those arrested, according to the authorities, is connected to the Sinaloa cartel. He was responsible for receiving narcotics in Spain and then sending them to Europe.

The Sinaloa Cartel is one of Mexico's oldest, largest and most violent criminal organizations, whose influence remains strong despite the arrest of its founder Joaquin Guzman, "El Chapo", or that of his son Ovido , in January of 2023.

Both were extradited and imprisoned in the US. The police also confiscated banknotes and documents.
