VIDEO/ MP shocks colleagues, takes out nude photo in the middle of Parliament

A New Zealand MP has stunned colleagues by showing a nude portrait of herself during a plenary session in parliament.

Laura McClure caused a stir in the media when she declared from the floor of Parliament that the photo was not real, but was created through artificial intelligence and took less than five minutes to produce online.

“This is a naked image of me, but it is not real,”  she said in her speech on May 14, warning that these technologies could be used to severely harm people, especially women in politics and public life.

“I felt like it needed to be done, it needed to be shown how important this is and how easy it is to do, and also how much you can look like yourself.”
