US and Iranian officials meet face to face in Pakistan, positive signals
Optimistic signals are coming from Islamabad, where the first round of talks between the United States and Iran, which lasted less than two hours, has concluded.
According to the 'Associated Press', citing the White House, US Vice President JD Vance also participated in the negotiations, who, together with other senior US officials, held face-to-face talks with the Iranian delegation.
After about two hours of intense discussions, the parties took a short break for dinner, before resuming negotiations again, in a process that still remains delicate and evolving.
Although both sides have maintained maximalist positions at the table, some positive moves have been noted on key issues. These include tensions over Israeli attacks in Lebanon, the issue of unblocking Iranian assets, and discussions on the Strait of Hormuz.
Other sensitive issues in bilateral relations were also addressed at the roundtable. Some officials spoke on condition of anonymity, as they were asked not to comment publicly on the progress of the negotiations.
The talks are expected to continue in the coming hours, while the international community is closely following developments in this process of high geopolitical importance.
