For Ramiz Ali's family there were 12 servants and for the others 2-3 people. In particular, for the Hoxha family the salary of this staff for the years 1988-1990 amounts to 406 thousand lekë, for the Alia family 260 thousand lekë, for the Çarçani family 102 thousand lekë, for the Çeliku, Çuko, Muftiu, Bekteshi, Isai, Marko, Murra etc. families from 70-75 thousand lekë. One of the first investigative commissions that was approved by the first pluralist parliament of 1991, was a commission for the verification of the expenses and luxury of the families of the communist bloc. The staggering figures of expenses are listed in the report presented to the parliament by the state commission with experts of the High State Audit. One of the details of this report is related to the number of servants who worked in the villa of the dictator Enver Hoxha and other families of the communist bloc. The report highlights the much higher number of servants in the villas of the dictator Enver Hoxha, followed by the also high number in the villas of Ramiz Ali. The expenses to keep these daily servants of the leadership in work and feed them were very high for the time. Considering the extreme poverty among Albanians, the figures are extraordinary. In addition to being paid to serve the leadership, the employees had a special status compared to other employees, because they were treated with a higher salary and a free food diet. 406 thousand new lek were spent for the servants of the dictator's family for one year alone, while the average salary in Albania at that time was about 250 new lek. The topic brings details of this report that became part of a wide debate in parliament, in the fall of 1991.

"A considerable number of employees have been employed and treated with salary and food to serve the families of the members and candidates of the Politburo, the Presidium of the People's Assembly, the secretaries of the Central Committee of the Party and some special persons. For each of the above-mentioned families, 2-3 people have been made available as service personnel, while for the family of Nexhmije Hoxha 20 people, for that of Ramiz Alia 12 people. For the last 3 years, the salary of this personnel has amounted to 2.2 million lek. In particular, for the Hoxha family the salary of this personnel for the years 1988-1990 amounts to 406 thousand lek, for the Alia family 260 thousand lek, for the Çarçani family 102 thousand lek, for the Çeliku, Çuko, Muftiu, Bekteshi, Isai, Marko, Murra etc. families 70-75 thousand lek.

In addition to the above, many employees of the Reception Directorate, due to the special nature of their service, have benefited from up to 25% additional salary, which for the last 3 years amounts to 257 thousand lekë. Personnel serving within families benefited from this additional salary and meals in kind worth 7 lekë per day for each.

"For the last 3 years, the amount calculated for this food that was provided was 584 thousand lek. This quota was deducted from the value of the food billed to various families. From the verifications made in some families, the staff stated that they did not actually consume the assigned quota, although the amount was deducted from the value of the food bills of the privileged families," the report states./ TemA
