Brazil removed from European Union list, beef and poultry imports banned

The ban on beef and poultry from Brazil has been announced by the National Food Authority, following changes to European Union rules on imports of products of animal origin.

According to the AKU, Brazil has been removed from the list of countries authorized for the export to the European Union of certain categories of animals and products of animal origin for human consumption.

In implementation of these changes, the import of poultry and beef from Brazil is conditional on the approval of production areas and establishments by the European Union.

However, the NFA clarifies that consignments for which the veterinary health certificate was signed or issued before September 3, 2026, will continue to be accepted at border checkpoints, even if they arrive in Albania after this date.

The National Food Authority declares that it will continue monitoring and implementing legal requirements to guarantee food safety and protect public health.
