José Rodríguez Martínez, the Spanish footballer who moved to Real Madrid, recounted in an interview with DAZN one of the episodes that has remained most in his mind from his experience in Albania.
Rodríguez, who joined Flamurtari Vlorës in 2025, spoke humorously about how he was paid during his time in Albanian football.
" The strangest thing? They paid us in cash. I missed that. Especially for those amounts," he said.
The 31-year-old Spaniard has had a rich international career. He was formed at Real Madrid and played for the first team before continuing his career with Deportivo La Coruña, Galatasaray, Mainz 05, Málaga, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Fortuna Sittard, Fuenlabrada, Maccabi Haifa, Union Saint-Gilloise, Hapoel Tel Aviv and Adana.
In Albania, Rodríguez became part of Flamurtari in 2025, bringing back to Albanian football a name with experience in well-known European clubs.
His statement about cash payments is part of his account of the Albanian experience, which he recalls with a touch of humor.
