Will they join the opposition? The Guardian: Arab parties could bring down Netanyahu!

Israel may be on the verge of a historic change with Arab parties becoming kingmakers: After elections that stripped Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of his parliamentary majority, the coalition of these parties could play a crucial role in forming a new government.
In an interview with The Guardian, Yousef Jabareen, the leader of the main coalition of Arab parties, declared that he is ready to support the opposition to end the rule of Netanyahu and his far-right allies.
Although in the lead, the prime minister's bloc has fallen from 68 to 53 seats in the 120-seat parliament, while the opposition "Change" alliance, led by former general Gadi Eisenkot, has secured 48 seats. Arab parties have achieved a record result of 19 seats, thanks to a historic turnout of about 80% of Israel's Arab citizens in the elections.
Jabareen clarified that his coalition does not intend to become part of the government as long as the occupation of Palestinian territories in the West Bank continues, but is willing to support an opposition government.
It calls for an end to discrimination against the Arab community, the resumption of negotiations with the Palestinian leadership, and a halt to the war. However, the formation of an alternative government remains complicated by political differences between opposition parties and the conditions imposed on cooperation with Arab representatives.
Meanwhile, the 67 MKs who oppose Netanyahu could secure control of parliament even before the formation of a new government, starting with the election of the Knesset speaker.
Jabareen also warned of the risk of Netanyahu getting involved in a new conflict with Iran, expressing concern that a military escalation could be used to delay the political transition.
Israeli President Isaac Herzog is expected to begin consultations with parties to determine who will be given the mandate to form the next government.
