Some time ago, the academician Artan Fuga reminded Sali Berisha what the whole of Albania is saying to him today: Personal trouble has made Berisha incoherent in his political attitudes. What he says today, he denies tomorrow. This phenomenon, in addition to leaving the opposition in chaos, has revealed a deeper problem: the lack of an honest and coherent narrative.
Artan Fuga asked a simple question, but one that reveals Berisha's contradictions: "Either the votes are stolen, as the opposition claims, and then Lulzim Basha was right when he says that he never lost, or the votes are not stolen and Basha is to blame for not won the elections". If it is the first, then why do they accuse Basha of not being able to win?
And if it is the second, then why does Berisha keep talking about manipulated elections?
Berisha is stuck in a logical circle with no way out. In the battle to regain PD, Berisha accused Lulzim Basha of having "sold" the 2021 elections. Today, at the door of SPAK, he said that those elections were manipulated, bringing as "evidence" the communications between Taulant Balla and Suel Çela. If we stick to this second version, why did Berisha accuse Basha? And, the most ironic, why did he lie to the Democrats to legitimize his fight against Lulzim Basha?
In this crossroads of contradictions, there is a simple truth that Berisha cannot overlook: Lulzim Basha was right when he denounced the manipulation of the elections and the political corruption of the Rama government. But while Basha was denouncing these, Berisha closed construction permits for towers for his family members.
And when PD should have been fighting for free elections, it is stuck in the fight against SPAK for the plight of Berisha!
But not only this: Berisha accused Lulzim Basha of collaborating with Taulant Balla, while today I remind us that it was Basha who denounced Taulant Balla's connections with the Toyota Yaris scandal in Parliament.
So Berisha, as he himself admits, has systematically deceived the democrats, with the attacks against Lulzim Basha.
And as Basha, Sali Berisha, had stated at the beginning of the campaign, he does not want PD to bring him to power because he has no chance, but he needs to use him as he did today in front of SPAK, to put pressure on own personal situation.
Today, Albanians demand responsibility and honesty from those who claim to be leaders. For this reason, Sali Berisha must apologize publicly to Lulzim Basha to show that he is sincere and truthful in the accusations against Edi Rama.
Only such a step can restore some seriousness to the Albanian opposition. That it is impossible to believe two truths, and that Rama stole the elections with crime and that Basha sold the elections.
If Berisha is serious about the fight against Edi Rama and the fight against election manipulations, then he must admit that he made a mistake in his attacks on Basha. On the contrary, every word he says is simply an attempt to protect himself and to use a party for his plight, which is becoming more and more irrelevant in the eyes of Albanians./ Alfapress.al
