Residence permits for immigrants in Greece, what changed from March 31, 2024

The renewed Immigration Code, the SOS changes and the new legal framework for residence permits were discussed in the last activity of the "Albanian Community in Greece".

In the event, the honorable lawyer of the Albanian community in Greece, the excellent Emi Zaimi, the well-known activist and doctor, Skerdilajd Agalliu and journalist Ira Londo, coordinator of the activity, for about 3 hours have informed accurately and in detail about every point and impasse of the legislature. complicated and problematic legalization, a full 34 years after the arrival of the first Albanian immigrants in Greece.

Lawyer Emi Zaimi has not hesitated to analyze the SOS articles for the categories that include more immigrant families, to refer in detail to the essence of the situation, openly reflecting how the legalization process actually works and not how it is "hidden" behind sensational promises or decrees published by the Greek Ministry of Immigration from last year until March 2024.

Also, he held an open discussion with the attendees, answering many questions about specific cases.
Skerdilajd Agalliu has analyzed the new article 193 of the Ν law. 5078/2023, touching on the issue from another point of view, how it will really affect the immigrant's family life in cases where the progress of the procedure does not go in the strict and limited way provided for in the regulation.

The three leaders of the panel have transmitted a series of important information clarifying "dark" points of the legislation, but constantly stressing that the process remains to be updated after the Orthodox Easter festive period, as supplementary circulars are expected for many articles, which will We follow them very closely.

Regrettably, the unscrupulous exploitation of immigrant families by both irresponsible lawyers and real estate agents of various spheres has been found again, even at this stage it is about a very high number, about 40,000 immigrants, who are expected to be penalized for an act of legalization rushed and of which they were not even aware, although they have paid dearly, the result of this very shameful phenomenon.

At the end of the activity, we renewed our meeting after the Orthodox Easter and with the publication of new circulars, for another broad information session regarding the major issue of Residence Permits and legalization in general.
