Plague descends on Devoll! Dozens of cattle affected by the disease, area quarantined

In addition to Shkodra, Dibra, Bulqiza and Skrapar, the first case of this disease was confirmed in Korça today. The outbreak of small cattle plague was found in the village of Shuec in the Devoll Municipality.
"The affected farmer has lost 13 cattle in his herd of 170 heads. After being notified by the Korça Veterinary Service, specialists have arrived in Shuec, where they have confirmed the plague disease and are taking measures to destroy the affected cattle."
A veterinary quarantine has been imposed in a 3 km radius, encompassing Shuec, Rakicka and Zagradec, due to the high risk of infection.
The quarantine ban prohibits the movement of livestock from this area to other areas. Since June 9, the Ministry of Agriculture has temporarily banned the movement of sheep and goats throughout the country, including trade and shared pastures.
Only transport to slaughterhouses is allowed, with a veterinary certificate. The disease, which is highly contagious and has a high mortality rate in sheep and goats, is not transmitted to humans, but causes huge economic losses for farmers.
