Greece commemorates 13th anniversary of Pavlos Fyssas' murder, anti-fascist rallies in several cities

Rallies and marches will be held in several cities in Greece today to commemorate the 13th anniversary of the murder of musician and anti-fascist activist Pavlos Fyssas, who was killed on September 18, 2013 by Giorgos Roupakias, a member of Golden Dawn.
The main demonstration will be held in Keratsini, near Piraeus, at 17:30, near the monument erected in honor of Fyssas, in the very area where he was killed. Afterwards, participants are expected to march towards Kokkinia and the metro station in Nikaia.
Greek police have announced special security measures and traffic restrictions in the areas where the rallies will take place.
In Thessaloniki, the demonstration will start at 6:00 PM near Kamara and will be followed by a march in the city center. Due to the protest, several metro stations are expected to be temporarily closed.
Memorial rallies have also been announced in other cities, including Patras, Ioannina, Heraklion and Chania in Crete.
Pavlos Fyssas, known by his stage name Killah P, was 34 years old when he was killed. His murder accelerated the investigation into Golden Dawn, and seven years later, leaders of the organization were convicted by Greek justice of running a criminal organization.
This year's anniversary comes just days after the release from prison of Ilias Kasidiaris, former spokesman and one of the leading figures of "Golden Dawn". After completing his sentence, he announced his return to the political scene.
