Haxhiu decrees the dismissal of seven Serbian prosecutors: No one can hold

The acting President of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, has signed decrees dismissing seven Serbian prosecutors, following the decision of the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council (KPK).

The decision comes after the KPC rejected requests to withdraw the resignations of several prosecutors and 15 members of support staff from the Serb community at the Mitrovica Prosecution Office.

After the KPK meeting, the names of the prosecutors were sent to the Presidency for their release from duty, while Haxhiu announced that he had signed the decrees for the completion of this process.

In her reaction, Haxhiu said that the decision concludes a process that has been going on for years and was taken in accordance with the Constitution and laws of Kosovo.

"Our state functions on the principles of constitutional order and the rule of law. No one can hold hostage the functioning of institutions nor create legal uncertainty through unfinished processes," Haxhiu declared.

She added that Kosovo institutions will continue to act decisively to preserve institutional integrity and enforce the law.
