Good Friday/Christian ritual, Christ's final journey to the cross

Good Friday is celebrated by Christians around the world. In Jerusalem, believers carried large wooden crosses and chanted prayers as they marked the holy day.
Easter ceremonies in Jerusalem are being held as the war in Gaza continues and has claimed thousands of lives. Worshippers in the Mexican resort town of Taxco welcomed Good Friday with an overnight procession, carrying crosses.
According to tradition, a person carries large branches with thorns on their shoulders to symbolize the suffering of Christ carrying the cross. The tradition dates back to 1622.
In Manila, the Philippines, Catholics also marked Good Friday with a similar parade. The crucifixion ritual has been a tradition for decades and draws large crowds from around the world each year during Holy Week.
Australians also celebrated Good Friday. In the suburbs of Sydney, the Maronite Church held a mass attended by the country's politicians. Good Friday marks the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ.
