Although pilots usually make their announcements from the cockpit, in this case the pilot, Jeff Fell, wanted to talk to his passengers on the phone the flight attendants used to talk to, as it was his last flight after 32 years, he was going out on pension.
The peculiarity of the case was that among the passengers was also his family, who accompanied him on his last trip as a pilot with American Airlines.
“My name is Jeff Fell and I am the pilot of your flight which will take 2 hours and 43 minutes and the weather in Chicago is fine. I don't normally stand in front of everyone at take off, but I'm talking to you from the cockpit and if I get emotional, please forgive me. Before we leave for Chicago, I don't want to leave out a few people who are very important to me and they are in the back of the plane and this is my family that came with me on my last flight before I retire ", he said.
