Today is the International Day for Safety and Health at Work.

World Day for Safety and Health at Work is held every year on April 28.

This day was initiated to promote and discuss the importance of having a safe and healthy work environment.

Data shows that deaths due to occupational accidents are 19% globally.
The necessity and demand to regulate this human issue is emphasized on the World Day for Safety and Health at Work.

The need for change and a comprehensive action plan for the well-being of every employee across the globe is vital.

History of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work

In 2003, the International Labor Organization (ILO) decided to dedicate and celebrate the World Day for Safety and Health at Work.

April 28 aims to encourage, support and reinforce the need to continuously create a safe and healthy culture, to reduce injuries, accidents, illnesses and deaths at work for every worker and employee.

Around 6,500 people die every day due to accidents that occur at work, as well as from work-related diseases, or 2.3 million deaths in a year.
