80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, Osmani participates in the memorial ceremony

Today, the official ceremony is being held to mark the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz camp, in the presence of around fifty survivors and 54 international delegations, among them Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani.
During the ceremony, in memory of the victims of the Holocaust, the touching stories of two survivors from the Auschwitz camp will be shared with participants, recalling one of the darkest chapters in human history.
The Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp became a symbol of the genocide committed by Nazi Germany against 6 million European Jews, one million of whom died between 1940 and 1945, along with more than 100,000 non-Jews.
In 2005, the United Nations declared January 27th International Holocaust Remembrance Day, to remember the victims and to encourage the world to commit to preventing the recurrence of such horrors. / KosovaPress
