The UN Assembly votes "in favor" with 123 votes, Albania is elected a member of the Human Rights Council

After voting with 123 votes in favor at the UN General Assembly today, Albania was elected a member of the Human Rights Council for the period 2024-2026. The news was made public by the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani.
"Another great achievement of foreign policy and diplomacy; another demonstration of confidence from UN member states for Albania's role in international affairs. This time fully dedicated to the protection and promotion of Human Rights everywhere and for everyone", he wrote on social networks.
He added that Albania will be fully committed to the protection and promotion of human rights "everywhere and for everyone".
The Council, which is charged with the responsibility to protect and advance human rights at the global level, consists of 47 member states elected by secret ballot by a majority of the members of the General Assembly.
