Gibraltar officially becomes a city of Great Britain

Gibraltar has officially been placed on the list of cities in Great Britain.
The decision was made official on the Platinum Jubilee of 70 years on the throne of Queen Elizabeth II, 96, with the enthusiastic approval of outgoing Prime Minister Boris Johnson's Conservative government.
The city is located in a British crown territory claimed for centuries by Spain on the edge of the Iberian Peninsula.
Urban status granted since 1842
- Urban status was actually granted since 1842 at the initiative of another sovereign, Queen Victoria.
But for a trivial error, this status was never transcribed in the official list of British cities.
Outgoing Prime Minister Boris Johnson says he is delighted to be able to underline, in the wake of the act, the "unbreakable bond" between Gibraltar and the UK, even after Brexit.
The thanks of the head of government Rocca
Fabian Picardo, the head of the Rocca government, for his part sent a "heartfelt thank you" to Johnson via the BBC, noting how the transcript has an important "symbolic" value even though it is destined to "change a lot little on a practical level."
Considering that recognition had already been actually applied by London since 1842 and that the name of Gibraltar as "City" was then incorporated into the text of the local Constitution in force since the Second World War.
