The USA strongly criticizes Albin Kurti: It is putting the citizens of Kosovo

The USA has reacted strongly through its Embassy in Pristina for the closure of 9 branches of the Post of Serbia in the north of Kosovo.

The Embassy's statement is harsh, saying that uncoordinated actions undermine Kosovo's reputation as a reliable international partner.

" The US government is deeply disappointed by the unilateral and uncoordinated actions taken by the Government of Kosovo towards the Serbian post offices in northern Kosovo.

Kosovo's uncoordinated actions put Kosovo citizens and KFOR soldiers at greater risk, unnecessarily escalate regional tensions and undermine Kosovo's reputation as a reliable international partner.

We call on the government of Kosovo to cease any further unilateral actions and return to constructive engagement in the EU-facilitated Dialogue to resolve issues related to the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia", concludes the reaction of the US Embassy in Kosovo.

While the European Union has called the action a violation of the agreements reached in the dialogue facilitated by the EU between Kosovo and Serbia.

" The European Union considers today's closure of nine branches of the Post of Serbia in the north of Kosovo by the Kosovo authorities a unilateral and uncoordinated step, which violates the agreements reached within the Dialogue facilitated by the EU.

As part of the Telecommunications Agreements reached in 2013 and the Action Plan agreed in 2015, both sides agreed to discuss postal services “at a later stage.

The EU is ready to include this issue in the agenda of the next meeting of the Dialogue. The EU expects the parties to develop constructive ideas that can serve as a basis for a solution.

Unilateral and uncoordinated actions cannot provide a solution to this or any other issue related to the normalization process between Kosovo and Serbia. The closure of existing services to Kosovo Serbs, without any new agreement agreed in advance, will negatively affect the daily life and living conditions of this community.

We call on the government of Kosovo to reconsider its decision and find a negotiated solution to this issue within the EU-facilitated Dialogue," the EU statement says.
