Kosovo risks plunging into political crisis again, AAK: We will not form a

The vice-chair of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Time Kadrijaj, has called on the leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Albin Kurti, to engage in political dialogue with parliamentary parties on the formation of new institutions. On the day the results of the June 7 election were certified, Kadrijaj tells KosovaPress that there are no more reasons for delays and that the responsibility now falls on the LVV as the winner of the elections to secure the necessary political support for the president's cause.

" It's good that they were certified, meaning that all the complaints that the individuals assigned to the electoral process had were reviewed. Now there is no other space left, meaning that the session for the constitution of the Assembly must be called and we must continue with the constitution of the Assembly. However, we have not seen any movement made by the Vetëvendosje Movement and Albin Kurti. We have seen that recently he has been engaged in symposiums and visits to Greece, which are not rare. We have not seen any commitment, at least so far, that there is a will to form a government, but you know that the election of the president is also problematic, in which there is a requirement to have 80 deputies in the hall ."

According to Kadrijaj, the LVV should work to create a broader political consensus, given that the procedures related to the election of the president require the presence of 80 MPs in the hall. Kadrijaj reiterated that the Alliance does not intend to be part of a government led by Albin Kurti, but said that the party is ready to contribute to the election of the president if their demands are met.

" The Alliance has given its positions, we have no ambition to be part of the government together with Albin Kurti. However, for the sake of resolving the political situation, the political deadlock, going to consecutive elections, meaning that for a year and a half we have had three elections, then Mr. Kurti must find a consensus, some consensual name or have some political agreement with the parties with which he can certainly have 80 votes in the hall. The Alliance has shown its position. The Alliance's position is correct, we have given him six points on which we will probably stay in the hall, which are dominant points and which are points in the interest of Kosovo. If he fulfills them, we will stay in the hall, without asking for anything in return ," Kadrijaj declares.

According to her, the Alliance is open to discussing with Kurti the issue of the president and the demands he has presented.

" Since we have posed those questions or those requests that the Alliance had, it is normal that it should be discussed. We will see in the coming days, there should be intensive movement from Albin Kurti. I said, until now there has been movement even before the certification of the elections, it was not necessary to wait, because the results were ultimately known. The seats for the political parties were known and there was no need for Mr. Kurti and the Vetëvendosje Movement to wait after the certification of the elections, because in fact the certification of the elections has not brought or these complaints have not brought any change in the seats for the political parties ," she adds.

Kadrijaj warned that, in the absence of political dialogue and an agreement between parties, there is a risk that the country will once again face institutional blockades and new elections.

" I said this too. Since we have not had enthusiasm or have not had any commitment, there is a risk that the scenarios of the past times will be repeated, because perhaps Mr. Kurti will secure 61 votes for the government, but he does not have 80 votes for the beginning and for the issue of electing the president. I said, there must be some political agreement here, either with the LDK or the PDK, or there will be an agreement for a consensual candidate. If the Vetëvendosje Movement guarantees that the six conditions set by the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo are met, we will certainly, since Mr. Gjini has presented them, stay in the hall. On the contrary, if the conditions are not met, we have no reason to stay in the hall ," she emphasizes.

The CEC certified the results of the June 7 elections on Wednesday. The certification of the results will pave the way for the formation of new institutions, with the Assembly having thirty days to convene to be constituted.
