Strong letter from Democrats to Congress: Albania's government, desperate to become palatable in the US, gave favors to Kushner

Democrats in the US House of Representatives have requested detailed information on Jared Kushner's business dealings in Albania.
Kapitali publishes the full letter from Congressman Jamie Raskin, who asks Kushner to make all documentation on the purchase of land in Zvërnec, as well as communications between him and the Albanian government, available to Congress by September 7th.
In the letter, the Democratic congressman states that the American President's son-in-law's dealings in Albania could be investigated under the Corrupt Practices Act, while the Albanian government, which he says is desperate to become palatable in the US, has made concessions and favors for Kushner.

Dear Mr. Kushner:
You may have been too busy causing a new foreign policy fiasco in Albania after your yachting adventure in the Adriatic to answer some questions we had regarding your blatant conflicts of interest going on here in America.
So, in case you have forgotten the existence of a congressional investigation into your conflicts of interest and corrupt business practices, I am writing to remind you of your obligation to respond to Congressional investigative requests and also to let you know that we have expanded our investigation to include your questionable real estate practices.
On April 16, 2026, I wrote to you about the deep concerns that had been expressed by members of Congress regarding your decision to seek private investment from foreign powers for your personal businesses, while at the same time acting as one of the United States government’s chief negotiators in foreign conflicts — incidentally, conflicts in which your investors are themselves directly or indirectly involved.
From the perspective of the American people, your decision to simultaneously act in these two roles — one public for the government and the other private for personal gain — has created a blatant and irreparable conflict of interest, especially when 97% of the funds you have raised for your investment firm have been drawn directly from the sovereign wealth funds of foreign governments, related commercial entities, and foreign nationals.

Natyrisht, ju nuk e "gjetët" atë: Sazani është përdorur periodikisht si një instalim ushtarak që nga kohërat romake, përmes Perandorisë Osmane, derisa së fundmi u kthye në një zonë mjedisore të mbrojtur dhe strehë të jetës së egër.
Të papreokupuar nga kjo, ju mblodhët disa partnerë miliarderë nga Katari dhe lançuat një plan për të ndërtuar një resort luksoz për njerëz ekstremisht të pasur pranë ose mbi ishull.
Qeveria e Kryeministrit shqiptar Edi Rama, e cila ka kërkuar prej kohësh të ndikojë në politikën amerikane, ju dha miratimin, por Kryeministri nuk mundi të fitonte miratimin e zgjedhësve të tij për projektin tuaj të ëndrrave.
Populli shqiptar ka dalë në rrugë për të protestuar, dhe prokurorët shqiptarë kanë ngrirë asete potencialisht të rreme që lidhen me blerjen tuaj të tokës në Zvërnec, pasi doli se shitësi në të vërtetë nuk e zotëronte tokën.
Edhe pse keni pretenduar se nuk keni pasur asnjë dijeni për pretendimet mashtruese të shitësit, ëall Street Journal zbuloi së fundmi se ju e bletë tokën në fjalë nga Artur Shehu — një gangster i dyshuar dhe trafikant droge me një histori të falsifikimit të dokumenteve të pronësisë — madje edhe pasi banorët lokalë ju shkruan për t'ju paralajmëruar se z. Shehu nuk kishte titull legjitim mbi tokën.
Pavarësisht kësaj, ju shtytë përpara, i paguat z. Shehu më shumë se 120 milionë dollarë dhe pretenduat pronësinë e zonës në mosmarrëveshje. Ndërkohë, skuadra juaj private e sigurisë dhunoi banorët lokalë që guxuan të protestonin kundër rrëmbimit tuaj të dyshimtë të tokës.

And you have been offered significant financial concessions and privileges by a foreign government, desperate to curry favor with the United States, while you, as the President's son-in-law, act as a de facto government official.
Therefore, we reiterate our previous requests and add several more below, including those necessary to determine whether your conduct should be investigated under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and to promote legislative reform.
The House Judiciary Committee is investigating the conduct of you, your firm, and your business partners, with the goal of obtaining critical information for reforming our bribery laws, conflict of interest provisions, other statutes and regulations governing the conduct of government employees and special government employees, the Foreign Agents Registration Act, and the FCPA.
Please provide the following documents, together with the documents responding to my previous requests, no later than 5:00 PM on September 7, 2026:
All documents and communications between you or any affiliated entity and any representative of the Albanian government regarding real estate, business agreements or protests in that country;
All documents and communications between you or any affiliated entity and any representative of the United States government regarding real estate, business arrangements, or protests in Albania;
All documents related to the approval or review of any real estate project in Albania, including but not limited to purchases, government approvals, payments or investments.
Thank you for your prompt attention to these important supervisory requests.
