The European Democrats (PDE/EDP) have reacted to the decision of the GJKKO to suspend from duty and impose "house arrest" on the director of the State Intelligence Service, Vlora Hyseni. Through a reaction published on social networks, the PDE describes the issue as a serious development and demands that the investigations and charges against Hyseni be handled by the justice bodies independently, while also respecting the principle of the presumption of innocence.
According to the European Democrats, institutions should avoid any interference and create space for judicial authorities to carry out their duties. In response, the European party also links the situation to the concerns raised during the protests in Albania, citing citizens' demands for transparency, accountability and strengthening the rule of law. The European Democrats emphasize that the European integration process requires functional democratic institutions, an independent justice system and the fight against corruption.
Vlora Hyseni was suspended from her position as head of SHISH and placed under house arrest. She is being investigated for the criminal offenses of “disclosure of investigative secrets” and “supporting the perpetrator of a crime.” According to the indictment, Hyseni is suspected of using secret information to help Ergys Agas, who was arrested in August as part of the investigation into the AKSHI affair and is accused of being the leader of a structured criminal group.

The suspension and house arrest order regarding Vlora #Hyseni, head of the State Intelligence Service of #Albania, is an extremely serious development. The charges reported against her must now be reviewed by the competent judicial authorities, in full independence and with full respect for the presumption of innocence.
At the same time, these developments reinforce the importance of the concerns raised by the #FlamingoRevolution. From the environmental controversy surrounding the resort project that sparked the movement, citizens have demanded more transparency, accountability, and respect for the rule of law.
No conclusions should be drawn before the judicial process has been completed. But when investigations reach such high levels of the state, all institutions must respond with full transparency and allow justice to function independently and without interference. Albania's European future requires strong democratic institutions, an independent judiciary, true accountability and an uncompromising fight against corruption. This is what the Albanian people deserve.
