As the elections are held on May 11, it seems that the electoral race has begun for several politicians aspiring to obtain a mandate as an MP. "We do not ask for anything, we offer everything," says Kujtim Gjuzi.
Among the allies that joined the Democratic Party, there are those entities that cannot even justify the definition of small. With a party seal in their pocket and an unclear number of votes beyond the president's family circle, they claim that they have become part of the coalition to contribute and not to benefit.
They promise to make Albania great, but for the moment they enjoy the conviction that they have at least managed to give greatness to the formation led by Sali Berisha. "We are in a coalition to make Albania one of the richest countries in the world. We will give this contribution to the Albanian people," says Selami Jenisheri, chairman of the Pensioners' Party.
"I come only to contribute, because if it were for positions, have they ever seen me in a position that I probably deserved, never," says Sazan Guri, president of the European Ecological Alliance. "If you looked and thought that we came to benefit, you would hear us with personal actions regarding the diaspora and immigration. We, and because we are representatives of immigration, have left what is represented in a common voice that this is a turning point," says Kostaq Papa, president of the Party for Immigration.
Usually the names are heard again in public about 6 months before the elections, but they still talk about bastions. "I believe more in Tirana, Shkodra, I hope Fier and Elbasan and Durres, but Vlora will also be..., but above all it is the diaspora", says Jenisheri. "We are very strong in Lezha, Shkodra and Dibër with an Albanian-American who is close to Marco Rubio's office", says Gjuzi.
"Tirana, Elbasan, Delvina, Saranda Vlora, which are districts with large emigration", says Kostaq Papa, chairman of the Party for Emigration. "Mr. Goxhaj in Tirana, Mrs. Dorina Mema in Durrës and an Arianit in Tirana, are 4-5 areas that we think love the family", says Sazan Guri, chairman of the European Ecological Alliance.
As for the number of mandates they claim they will give to the coalition, they prefer not to talk about numbers, but say they will make the Democratic Party the winner.
"This is difficult to understand on the ground, especially since this time the intervention is direct from the diaspora, but our help will be great. The requests that have come to me to become friends alone are over 1 thousand, this shows that the flows are great", says Papa. "We promise the DP the votes that were stolen in 2021 when I led another coalition", says Gjuzi. "We do not claim to be MPs, we want to bring a right-wing spirit within the coalition. If I run for an MP, no way", says Gjuzi.
