The Chairman of the Democratic Union for Integration in North Macedonia, Ali Ahmeti, congratulated Prime Minister Edi Rama today on his victory in the May 11 parliamentary elections.

In his message, Ahmeti also appreciates the holding in Tirana of the VI Summit of the European Political Community, with the participation of European leaders.

"There was no better way than to declare the victory of European Albania, as befits it, from the square of our majestic national hero, Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg, where you were crowned and sealed that victory with the participation of all the heads of European states in Tirana. Therefore, today, after you successfully completed all the challenges, I decided to congratulate you, fraternally from the bottom of my heart, on the spectacular and plebiscite victory of the parliamentary elections," Ahmeti wrote in his message.

The DUI leader also underlined that "the region needs reconciliation and integration."

"I was very happy that it was you who had the burden of taking Albania to Europe, where our renascentists determined our place, because I know that you will succeed and make it happen, and we will all support you."

"Therefore, Edi, continue on the path towards reconciliation and integration, because centuries-old enmity cannot be lived in. The region needs reconciliation and integration. You have me behind you, to pave the way and to watch your back," Ahmeti wrote in his message.

In his message, Ahmeti particularly praised Prime Minister Rama's support for Albanians in North Macedonia.

"You were with us at every step, even when we made the Albanian language the official language, even when we agreed on Corridor 8 from Skopje to Tirana, which you accepted without any hesitation, even when we removed the border between us, for the unified alphabet, and for everything else for the common good and in function of the European future," Ahmeti said.

Ahmeti underlined that "we still have a lot of work to do, time is proving that our achievements must be protected because they are being rudely violated by worrying trends and we will not allow a return to the past, but will work together to move forward."

"I embrace you like a brother, I wish you health and prosperity, and I eagerly await our reunion and the extension of our common European path," concludes the message of the leader of the DUI, Ali Ahmeti.
