EU: Albania to accelerate reforms to close negotiations in 2027. Fight against corruption and organized crime urgent

The EU Delegation in Tirana announced through a post on social media that a "productive and open" discussion took place today between the ambassadors of EU member states and the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ferit Hoxha.
According to the EU delegation, “ they exchanged views on the progress of accession negotiations and urgent issues such as the fight against corruption and organized crime, the environment and the implementation of reforms .”
They also underlined the importance of ensuring broad public understanding and support for the enlargement process.
EU Ambassador Silvio Gonzato stressed that, " to achieve the ambitious objective of closing membership negotiations by 2027, Albania must maintain and accelerate the pace of reforms, while ensuring their quality throughout the process ."
" Reforms related to EU integration must be well prepared, widely consulted with relevant stakeholders and effectively implemented, to bring concrete benefits to the daily lives of citizens. Dialogue with EU member states is also essential in the framework of negotiations for accession to the European Union ," the statement said.
