Gerta Meta, an election expert, spoke about the diaspora vote in an interview in the News 24 studio. Meta said that it has been agreed that the diaspora vote will be counted by the commissioners.
"We want the elections to be completely problem-free. Before the elections, the situation has never been completely calm. It has been agreed that the diaspora vote will be counted by the commissioners. The diaspora vote is a novelty and we do not know which party the votes of Albanians living abroad will go to.
"There is a large influx of Albanians abroad to vote. The diaspora vote will be counted in 12 districts. We will monitor the diaspora vote. It was promised that the ballot paper will be paid for by the Albanian government, for Albanians who are abroad. Whoever cannot register can complain to the court," said Gerta Meta.
The expert added that SPAK will be vigilant in investigating election crimes.
"Altin Dumani, the head of SPAK, has said that there will be a strategy to investigate and punish electoral crimes. SPAK will be vigilant for electoral crimes. There needs to be some kind of information for every report and for any kind of investigation. We must not allow vote buying and selling to take place. The campaign should be with measurable and dialogical promises. State resources should not be used in elections. Albania must hold elections within standards. Political parties are divided on electronic voting. Albania should take Kosovo as a model for a regular electoral process," she declared.
