The beginning of a broad resistance? The Democratic Party holds a national

The Democratic Party is holding its much-anticipated national protest today, December 22, in front of the Prime Minister's Office building, demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama.

The rally is scheduled to start at 6:00 PM on "Deshmorët e Kombit" Boulevard and is expected to have a larger turnout of opposition supporters, compared to the five previous protests, held in the form of a "pulpit".

During the weekend we left behind, various DP exponents, including Flamur Noka, Albana Vokshi, Jola Hysaj, Klevis Balliu and Elda Hoti, have held numerous meetings with citizens in different areas of the country, inviting them to participate in today's protest, which they consider a key moment in the opposition action against the government.

Today's protest comes after strong statements by DP leader Sali Berisha, who on December 20 warned that this would be just the beginning of a broader resistance to overthrow the Rama government. In a communication with his supporters, Berisha did not rule out other parallel initiatives, including extreme acts of isolation or even the stay of MPs in Parliament.

A day before the protest, authorities have launched increased security measures in the areas surrounding the Prime Minister's Office. Yesterday, metal shields were placed on the facade facing the "Martyrs of the Nation" boulevard, in order to protect the institution from possible incidents during the rally.

Service workers were seen assembling metal structures. Although authorities have not yet made an official announcement about the full plan of security measures, preparations on the ground indicate a high level of readiness of law enforcement.

Today's protest follows a series of rallies held in recent weeks. On December 15, the Democratic Party held its fifth consecutive protest in front of the Prime Minister's Office, organized in the form of a "platform", where MPs, opposition representatives and citizens addressed accusations and denunciations against Edi Rama's government.

The December 22 protest is seen by the opposition as the next step towards intensifying political action against the government.
