Trial for the 'Partizani' affair, GJKKO holds the next session today for Berisha, Malltez and other defendants

The next hearing for the "Partizani" case with defendant Sali Berisha, his son-in-law Jamarbër Malltezi and three others will take place today at the GJKKO. The hearing starts at 12:30.
The previous session was postponed due to the absence of lawyers Sokol Hazizaj and Vasilika Hys, who are defending businessman Fatmir Bektashi and the two companies.
Earlier, the court dismissed the request of Berisha and others for the invalidation of the acts and evidence found by SPAK, arguing that the request is unfounded in law and evidence. It was about the decisions made by the preliminary investigation judge Irena Gjoka, who was attacked by Berisha.
The Partizani affair case went to trial on May 19. Berisha will be tried on charges of passive corruption of high-ranking officials, as he is accused of having, in his capacity as prime minister, taken concrete actions in approving laws and by-laws, where his son-in-law was also a beneficiary.
Jamarbër Malltezi is also under indictment for corruption and money laundering. According to SPAK, he has illegally benefited from a construction business worth 5.4 million euros thanks to government decisions taken by his father-in-law.
Malltez's partner, Fatmir Bektashi, is accused of corruption and money laundering, while land heir Xhimi Begeja and financier Andia Pustina, who handled the financial and legal affairs of the company "Homeplan", are accused of money laundering. Also on trial for money laundering are three companies "Kontakt", "Homeplan" and "Studio Pustina".
