Rei Nozlli, the person who punched the secretary of KZAZ 30 in the Kashari area of Tirana while ballots were being counted, has been remanded in prison.
According to the prosecution, during the counting process, the relevant teller declared a vote invalid and at that moment Rei Nozlli and several other people who were with him reacted by shouting, expressing their disagreement with the teller's decision.
These persons stayed in the vote counting facilities and followed the process, without having the status of observer of any political entity.
After identifying this reaction, the complainant Remzi Mehmeti, in his capacity as secretary of CEAZ no. 30 and in the exercise of his functional duty, asked them to calm down, as he would convene the commission and evaluate the contested vote, but the group of people did not stop and continued with insulting words.
Mehmeti asked them to calm down, otherwise he would throw them out of the vote counting area, but Rei Nozlli, according to the Prosecution, crossed the security perimeter tape and went towards him, punching and kicking him.
Other people followed him, but the counters nearby intervened, trying to physically restrain them.
At the request of the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Tirana, citizen Rei Nozlli was remanded in custody for the criminal offense of 'Threat or violence against election participants' provided for by article 329/3 of the Criminal Code.
On 15.05.2025, in CEAZ no. 30, Kashar, the vote counting process was underway for the candidates for deputies who competed in the general elections of 11.05.2025. At around 14.00, during the counting process, the relevant counter declared a vote invalid and at that moment citizen RN and several other people who were with him reacted by shouting, expressing disagreement with this decision of the counter.
These persons were staying in the vote counting premises and following the process, without having the status of an observer of any political entity. After identifying this reaction, the complainant RM, in the capacity of the secretary of CEAZ no. 30 and in the exercise of his functional duty, asked them to calm down, as he would convene the commission and evaluate the contested vote, but the group of persons did not stop and continued with insulting words. In this situation, the complainant asked them to calm down, as otherwise he would take them out of the vote counting premises. Immediately after this, the citizen RN crossed the security perimeter tape and went towards him, hitting him with punches and kicks. Other persons also went after him, but the tellers who were nearby intervened, trying to physically restrain them.
At the conclusion of the preliminary actions taken, citizen RN was arrested, suspected of committing the criminal offense of 'Threat or violence against election participants' provided for by article 329/3 of the Criminal Code.
