The death of Gerti Bogdani, the Assembly postpones the session, holds tributes

The sudden death of the former democratic deputy Gerti Bogdani has led to the postponement of the plenary session scheduled to take place this Thursday. The Assembly has decided that tomorrow tributes will be held in honor of former MP Gert Bogdani.

The former deputy of the Democratic Party, Gerti Bogdani, passed away this Wednesday at the age of 44. Bogdani suffered a heart attack and was urgently transported to the Mother Teresa Hospital Center, but he did not make it.

In an official announcement, the Tirana Police said that Bogdani was found unconscious, around 11:30, in the premises of a hotel on "Dëshmorët e Kombit" boulevard.

During the meeting of the Council of Mandates, the bitter news was also confirmed by the DP deputy, Gazment Bardhi. The meeting was then adjourned for another day.

Who was Gerti Bogdani?

Born in Tirana in 1980 and graduated from the Polytechnic University of New York, in the United States of America, Bogdani started his engagement in politics in 2005.

In 2007, he began his duties as Secretary of Foreign Relations of the Democratic Party, a position he held until 2019. In 2007, he ran in the Local Elections, being elected mayor of Minimunicipality number 10 in the capital.

In 2009, Gerti Bogdani ran in the Parliamentary Elections of June 28, 2009 and was elected the youngest deputy in the Assembly of Albania. In 2013, he won a second mandate as a DP deputy. During two parliamentary mandates, he served in the European Integration Commission and the Media Commission.

Bogdani was married to activist Edlira Çepani and had two children.
