"The Democratic Party is crumbling, what will you do?"/ Agron Shehaj

Agron Shehaj was invited to the show "The Unexposed" on MCN TV, where he spoke about the election results and the future of the "Mundësia" party.

He was asked by analyst Baton Haxhiu about running for mayor of Tirana. Shehaj left this possibility open and added that the political project he has launched has long-term goals.

Baton Haxhiu : Defining independence is a courage and whoever takes the courage to form a party, has a goal and really has its own goal. Courage is within it, knowledge, infrastructure, money, all that you have experienced. Now you are fighting a battle with a concept, with a party. Defining independence is the most important thing in a person, then the concept.
When you left the DP, you had some issues along the way, first of all creating trust, you came to a phase when the DP was in disarray… That phase of creating loyalty, building infrastructure, reaching the outskirts. The battle was in the capital, or in Durrës, Elbasan, Tirana plus Vlora. Entering Parliament is about these characteristics, now it is a different battle. This requires a discourse and a battle without compromise. Where is the red line of compromises for the state and where is it for the Socialist Party. Where does the fight against the SP end and when does the right to serve the state also with the SP begin?

Agron Shehaj : The battles I have fought in Parliament have only had the public interest in mind. The limit of the framework for which I have acted has been the public interest. This remains the red line for me. Even when it has been against my interest, I have fought for the public interest. I have fought battles with ministers and the prime minister. They have been interpreted as personal battles, but they have not been such, they have been in favor and in the public interest. I will act within this framework. I am clear about it.

Baton Haxhiu: Are you able to compete in a battle for Tirana yourself? When I say this, what can it be, since the right that is in opposition will not grow but will crumble, you have a storehouse of votes, both undecided and right-wing, what is your future political battle, including the discourse in Parliament and the battle in the capital?

Agron Shehaj: Regarding the battle for Tirana, it's early, we haven't discussed this yet, it's a decision that is made within the structures. This should be discussed within the structures, it would be disrespectful if I am an opinion that is then interpreted as a decision. But, this too, regardless of the decision, is an important decision, but if we stick to our vision for a long-term political project. The opposition in Parliament that we will make as two deputies.

Baton Haxhiu : 40,000 or so people is a lot.

Agron Shehaj : Those who did not believe that we would succeed, it is undeniable that we as a political force have had an extraordinary result, especially in Tirana, in the center of Tirana, branches 5, 7 and 10, a result of almost 8%. It is encouraging and makes us think that our vision is embraced by a good part of society, even by the most developed part. We must continue to work in the same way, aware that a long journey awaits us.

Baton Haxhiu : Your advantage as a new leader is in two points, the two leaders of the major parties are on the way. The first moment is your advantage for a future race. That's why I said what you will do. Why did you lose your third term? In all the polls you had a third term. Where did you have the defects?

Agron Shehaj : Where could we have missed it? You know very well, predicting new forces in polls is the most difficult thing, because the voter is influenced at the last moment.
