The name of Dervish Beqiri, headman of the village of Pekisht in Peqin, Elbasan, was mentioned for the first time on May 22, by the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, who claimed that traces of vote manipulation through the Bulgarian Train phenomenon were found in his bar.
Report TV traveled to Pekishti to talk to the person who became the target of the opposition's persecution and to get his version.
The village headman says that the ballots found by the DP exponents were imitation ballots, which are used to educate voters on the correct way to vote on election day.
"Those letters are like smallpox there if they were in trouble. These are the letters that all the bars, the shops have because that's their job to distribute the letters," says Beqiri.
He denies that the voter lists found in his small bar-cafe were used for party purposes. As mayor, he was tasked with posting them at polling station locations.
"I went to the school to put the papers (voter lists) and they overcharged me, I couldn't leave them to the Kalamans there, I brought them here, because I don't have an office," he added.
Another claim of the opposition was the finding of some identity cards. But here too, they have been bluffed.

Targeted as a man who has served the Socialist Party, Beqiri denies having had a role, even influencing his fellow villagers, for the elections on Sunday, May 11.
"I am neither left nor right, I am a council chairman, I serve these few people left and right, when they need it, when they have a problem, I don't deal with fake letters, people know what they are doing, they don't have to listen to me, they know at the ballot box," he added.
Those who claim to have found the evidence of the "Bulgarian Train" in flagrante delicto say that they will face him, not in an electoral battle, but in the battle for the truth.

Edhe vetë denoncuesi kreu i PD Elbsan Bledi Himçi kur u pyet nga gazetarët a kishin apo jo fletët vula, pranoi edhe me zë atë që duhej qartë, se fletët ishin pa vula.
Mungesa e vulës, edhe nëse fletët e votimit janë të plotësuara, e do të përfundonin në ndonjë kuti votimi, i bën ato të pavlefshme, pasi lehtësisht kontestohen nga çdo numërues.
Që këto fletë nuk ishin provë e fenomenit të trenit bullgar, u duk i bindur edhe vetë kryedemokrati Berisha, i cili tha se nuk do të bëjë denoncim në SPAK.
