Rama comes out against Trump: We will not fill warehouses with all kinds of goods

Prime Minister Edi Rama opposes President Donald Trump's proposal that NATO members dedicate 5% of GDP to defense.
Rama stated that Albania cannot have an army with everything, including nuclear weapons, while adding, "we will not fill warehouses with all kinds of goods that we will not even use."
" Seeing that the general spirit now is to increase budgets, companies from all over Europe come to us, we have this to sell, we have that to sell, buy cars from us, buy bicycles, it is something that shows that the issue is not how much money we make available but how to use that money with what efficiency and how this money completes the overall picture of all European countries."
France is a unique case that has an army from A to Z and can do everything itself, but Albania cannot have such an army and like Albania there are many other countries that cannot have an army that has everything up to nuclear weapons. We must be complementary in the general context, we need a well-thought-out plan with clear procedures for everyone and guarantees of efficiency in the money that is invested.
"If this becomes a story that puts money in the budget and spends it and records what we spent, then we will have warehouses full of all kinds of goods that we will not even use," said Rama.
