The Municipality of Poliçan has continued public hearings with citizens as part of consultations on the new administrative-territorial reform. During the meeting held in the city, residents categorically expressed their opposition to the proposal for the merger of the Municipality of Poliçan with the Municipality of Berat, describing this project as destructive for the future of the area.

During her speech, one of the citizens present described the reform project as “exterminative and denigrating,” drawing parallels with the consequences of the previous merger of municipalities in abandoned villages. She raised concerns about the removal of services, the impoverishment of areas, and the degradation of education in collective classrooms.

Through a message addressed to the head of government, she demanded immediate reflection, calling for the head of government to "put his finger on his head". "Mr. Prime Minister, the citizens of Poliçan have not done anything shameful with the flame they set on the tesera, but have said stop to the fire and volcano that was igniting in the hearts of Albanians. We are not puppets, but we will fight for the future of our children. I say no to this denigrating reform", she said, among other things.

Strong opposition was also expressed by a parent and youth coach in Poliçan, who called the reform "murderous for the city" and demanded that decision-making be left to the residents themselves through a vote. "I am not leaving my homeland, I will raise my children here. I am not leaving the homeland of my parents who have worked hard for 40 years. Politics should ask us; a referendum should be held and we should decide with our vote," he declared.

Meanwhile, another resident described the alienation of local autonomy as a “modern-day genocide” with administrative tricks, which risks leaving citizens without a hospital and basic services. He called on the Berat district deputies to face the people and take responsibility: “The deputies of our area must come here face to face, listen to the demands of the people because we have given them the vote. We will fight the battle with law and rules until the end, because it is up to us to remain as a municipality.”
