"Record" increase in oil and gasoline prices in the country, the Transparency Board is activated again

The government has decided to reactivate the Transparency Board for fuel prices, a decision that, according to the Minister of Economy and Innovation, Delina Ibrahimaj, had been discussed earlier.

" We made a decision that we had discussed to reactivate the Transparency Board for fuel prices ," said Ibrahimaj.

She said that the main purpose of establishing the Board is related to the use of excise tax reduction.

" The purpose of the decision to establish the Board is mostly for the use of excise tax reductions ," declared Delina Ibrahimaj.

" Hello, the meeting of the Council of Ministers has just concluded, where, among other things, today we made a decision, which, in fact, we have been discussing for some time, to reactivate the Transparency Board for fuel prices.

In fact, even at last week's press conference, we discussed and were asked about the establishment of the Board. Our position until a little while ago was undecided about its establishment. But, given that the price has been at the level of 222 lek per liter for more than two weeks and given that we have made a decision in advance, through a normative act, where every time the price exceeds 220 lek, we will activate a mechanism for reducing the excise tax, in order to reduce the price of fuel.

The only mechanism was the re-establishment of the Transparency Board. Therefore, today we made the decision to re-establish this Board and we will begin to monitor fuel prices continuously, in accordance with the relevant legislation on price margins, " said the minister.

We remind you that for several days now, diesel has been sold at a price of 229 lek per liter. Gasoline has also become more expensive, costing citizens 219 lek per liter.
