Jay-Z has said he and his family have faced death threats on social media following a dismissed lawsuit accusing him and Sean 'Diddy' Combs of assaulting a woman when she was 13 years old after the 2000 MTV Music Awards. While the lawsuit has been dropped, the rapper has vehemently denied all allegations, denouncing them as false and damaging to his reputation.

Although the woman has dropped the lawsuit, the Empire State of Mind rapper stated that he is facing backlash over her "malicious and fictitious" claims.

He also pointed out that social media users have posted messages stating that they want to "kill" or "execute" us.

He added that the lawsuit had caused him mental anguish. In his legal statement, he mentioned that people on social media had labeled him a “satanist,” “trafficker,” “monster,” and even a “terrorist.”

Diddy, who was arrested in September 2024, currently faces 40 other lawsuits, many of which were filed by Tony Buzbee on behalf of alleged victims.
