The banner that shook the Eurovision stage after Serbia's performance

On a night that was supposed to be a celebration of music, politics made its silent but powerful entrance once again. After the performance of Princ – Serbia’s representative in the second semi-final night of Eurovision 2025 – cameras caught a banner in the audience that didn’t go unnoticed: “Your hands are bloody,” written in black on a white background, accompanied by a bright red handprint.
For most, this was a clear reference to the student protests that have rocked Serbia for months, where this “red hand” has become a symbol of resistance to oppression and injustice. But for others – especially from the Balkan region – the message took on another, deeper and more painful meaning: a reminder of the war crimes in Kosovo and the lack of accountability that continues to characterize the Serbian state’s approach to history.
On social media, reactions were immediate. Many hailed the banner as a symbolic international act demanding justice for the past, while others saw it as an attempt to politicize a scene that claims neutrality.
Regardless of the interpretation, one thing is certain: the message of that banner was read. And in an arena like Eurovision – where braids, dresses and high notes often make the most noise – the loudest voice this time came from the silence of a protest.
Serbia, on the other hand, failed to qualify for the grand final. Princ performed for the 15th time in a row and although he gave an energetic show, it seems that controversy followed him until the end.
